CASE PRESENTATION

The Clinical Case Presentation Competition at MedAscend is a platform to showcase challenging, rare, or insightful clinical cases that highlight diagnostic reasoning, clinical decision-making, and evidence-based management. This event encourages participants to delve deep into real-world patient encounters and reflect on their clinical approach.

NOTE :

Slot 1: For participants who are not participating in any other events.

Slot 2: For rest of the participants.

FORMAT :

The event will be conducted in two separate categories :

  • Solo Presentation

  • Duo Presentation (Maximum 2 members)​​

Both categories will be judged separately.

Abstract Submission :

Participants must submit an abstract of their case for preliminary screening.

Abstracts should include:

  • Title

  • Background/Introduction

  • Case Summary

  • Key Clinical Findings

  • Discussion/Clinical Significance

  • Conclusion

 

Detailed submission guidelines and format will be shared through the official communication channels.

 

The abstract submission deadline will be shared through the official communication channels, and ample time will be provided for submission and preparation.

Screening & Shortlisting :

All abstracts will undergo review by the Scientific Committee.

Evaluation will be based on:

  • Originality and uniqueness of the case

  • Clinical relevance

  • Diagnostic reasoning

  • Academic quality and clarity

  • Learning value

  • Only shortlisted participants will qualify for the final presentation round.

 

Final Presentation Round :

Shortlisted participants will present their cases during the conference before a panel of faculty judges.

 

Presentation Schedule

  • Participants attending workshops will have their case presentation slot scheduled on Day 2.

  • Participants not participating in workshops will present on Day 1.

 

Presentation Format :

  • Presentation must be prepared in PowerPoint (PPT) format.

  • A sample template will be shared for reference.

 

Total presentation time :

  • 7 minutes presentation

  • 3 minutes discussion and Q&A

Suggested Presentation Structure :

1. Introduction and patient profile

2. History and clinical examination

3. Investigations and imaging

4. Differential diagnosis

5. Final diagnosis

6. Management and outcome

7. Discussion and key learning points

 

Judging Criteria :

Participants will be evaluated on:

  • Clinical understanding and reasoning

  • Organization and clarity of presentation

  • Interpretation of investigations

  • Evidence-based approach

  • Communication skills

  • Ability to answer questions confidently

 

Important Guidelines :

  • Patient confidentiality must be maintained at all times.

  • Any identifying patient information must be removed.

  • Use of clinical images, scans, and investigations is encouraged where relevant.

  • Cases with strong educational value and clear clinical takeaways will be preferred.
