Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda, stands as one of the most respected medical institutions in Himachal Pradesh. Nestled in the scenic Kangra Valley, the college is not only known for academic excellence but also for its deep commitment to healthcare service, medical research, and community welfare. Established in 1996 by the Government of Himachal Pradesh, the institution has grown into a major center for medical education and patient care in northern India.

The roots of the institution trace back even earlier to a tuberculosis sanatorium founded through the efforts of philanthropist Rai Bahadur Jodhamal Kuthiala. The sanatorium was inaugurated in 1958 by India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, after whom the college is proudly named. Over the years, the institution evolved from a healthcare facility into a full-fledged government medical college dedicated to training future doctors and healthcare professionals.
